Well, today is July 4th, 2004 and I am finally getting around to posting some current pictures of the house, we had stone edging installed around the flower & tree beds, also had the gutter downspouts plumbed underground into yard (green circle in picture out in the grass) we mulched the beds the next weekend with red colored cedar mulch.

Today is 11/11/2003, Veteran's Day, we closed on the house today.

After over a year of shopping Heather and I have finally made a decision. On Saturday April 26th 2003 we signed a purchase agreement for Lot #5 Block 1 in the Villages of Woodland Springs to build;

The Bellagio
Plan #8200 | 3,900 sq. ft.

Model in Carrollton

2 Story, 4 Bedroom, 3.5 Bath, 2 Living, 2 Dining, Study, Game Room, Media Room, Master Down, 3-Car Garage.

Current estimate is that the home will be completed in either late October or early November of 2003. See the Construction page for the latest updates.  Our current house was put on the market on 8/18/2003.  As of 9/13/2003 (26 days) we have a contract on our current house with a close date of 11/3.

Here are the floor plans and front elevation,

2 different elevations are available, this is the one we chose.

We are getting the optional kitchen with the double oven and removing the broom closet.  See Upgrades page for the final floorplan

The neighborhood is the The Villages of Woodland Springs we are in the Woods section. Woodland springs is Northwest of FM 377 (Denton hwy) and FM 1709 (Golden Triangle/Southlake blvd) just West of Keller. The home will be in an unincorporated part of Fort Worth but in the Keller School District.  The address will be 5659 Redgum Drive, Fort Worth 76248 , mailing address will be Keller though.  The star on this image marks the position relative to the rest of Fort Worth
Here are a couple of satellite images the red square is where the house will be, with streets, here is before streets

The Builder is Legacy Homes, they are based in Plano Texas.

Legacy is an Energy StarŪ Certified builder and has committed to building every home to Energy Star performance guidelines.  The house will be Energy Star certified by an independent testing company after construction is complete.

All ENERGY STAR qualified new homes are certified to meet EPA's strict guidelines for energy efficiency and certification is verified by an independent third party. All ENERGY STAR qualified new homes receive the ENERGY STAR label, indicating to consumers that these energy-efficient homes are more comfortable, more durable, cost less to own, and are good for the environment.
What are ENERGY STAR's energy efficiency guidelines for new homes?
To earn the ENERGY STAR label, a home must be verified to be at least 30% more energy-efficient in its heating, cooling and water heating than a comparable home built to the 1993 Model Energy Code (MEC), and 15% more efficient than the state energy code. The ENERGY STAR label is earned only after the home's energy efficiency is verified, either by an independent third-party such as an accredited home energy rater or Builder Option Package (BOP) verifier, or by adhering to the quality control procedures established for HUD-code manufactured homes.

The lot is in the North East corner of the edition on the Northernmost edge (there is a brick fence on the back of the lot) with Caylor Road behind. Caylor Road is currently a one lane blacktop so traffic and noise should be minimal. The lot is approximately 90' x 136' (.2809 acre), this figure includes the 11' of sidewalk area. The back yard will be 37' deep the front yard will be 31' deep. The lots in this area are HEAVILY treed.  Providing none of the trees die during construction we should have, 3 trees on each side of the house and 27 trees in the back yard for a total of 33 trees, all of them are Post Oaks.  We will also have 2 trees installed in the front yard (neighborhood association rules), they will be Red Maples.

Here are some pictures of the lot. The edge of the dark green phone junction is the West (left) border of the lot, the electrical transformer is the East (right) border of the lot. The house will be facing South. Looking out the back window will have a beautiful view stretching past Denton. Another nice thing about this location is that the homes behind the lot (across Caylor) are on 1 acre lots, most of them are 1 story, so the view won't be changing anytime soon.

Here are 3 different examples of this house from the Estates of Indian Creek in Carrollton.  These homes have a different front elevation than we have chosen.
